ORWIGSBURG – Inside Williams Valley’s dugout are a few signs, one of which says this:
“They’re not going to give you anything. It’s about heart, go out there and TAKE IT!”
Williams Valley, down to their final three outs, did just that, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Minersville 4-3 in the District XI Class A Championship game May 31 at Blue Mountain High School.
“It worked out great that we were at the top of our order in that last inning,” Williams Valley Coach Lee Reiser said. “I looked at our seniors and told them that this is their time.”
With three hits, a walk, and sacrifice,  Williams Valley took home the District XI trophy, the final hit being an Alyssa Schadle single that sailed over the Minersville’s third baseman head and dropped out of reach, with Rayanne Hawk scoring the winning run from third.
