Trojans, Indians still in hunt for district titles

Marian 7, Tri-Valley 0
POTTSVILLE — On a rare Memorial Day game, Tri-Valley looked to bring home its second straight District XI Class A baseball championship. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs ran into one of the area’s best pitchers in Marian’s Joe Nahas.
Nahas and the Marian Colts defense held Tri-Valley to just two baserunners, a two-out walk in the sixth and the single by Hunter Herb in the fifth to break up the perfect game bid. Nahas finished the game with 13 strikeouts.
“They’re a good team and that pitcher (Nahas) is very good,” coach Bob Felty said following the game. “You can’t make anything happen if you can’t get any baserunners.”
Marian pounded out 10 hits in the victory and took advantage of six Tri-Valley errors to score in five out of their six at-bats. Will Kimmel took the loss on the mound for Tri-Valley, striking out two and only allowing three earned runs.
