
HALIFAX – The Tri-Valley Lady Bulldogs are the 2016 Halifax Wildcats tournament champions, defeating host team Halifax in the semifinals and then Millersburg in the finals.
Tri-Valley made the finals by defeating host team Halifax 15-4 on the strength of an 18-hit attack against the Wildcats. Kat Sherry had a double among her three hits while seven other Bulldogs had two hits each in the win.
Jacey Roth got the win on the mound for Tri-Valley.
Millersburg only needed four innings to reach the tournament finals, scoring 11 runs in the fourth inning to beat Lancaster Mennonite 16-1.
Lacy Strait had a triple in her three hits for the Indian win, followed by Mariah Armor with three hits and three RBI, making it smooth sailing for Lindsay Casner on the mound.
In the finals, Tri-Valley jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and was paced by Madisyn Horn and Karlee Klinger with two-run doubles in the first inning.
Taryn Herb was the top hitter for Millersburg with a double.
