Trojans defeat Millersburg to regain TVL title

HALIFAX – Upper Dauphin used rallies in the later innings to earn themselves the 2016 Tri-Valley League Championship, defeating Millersburg 7-4 in the tournament final on May 19.
It was the Indians that got on the board first in the title game scoring two runs in the first, but Upper Dauphin battled back with a run in the bottom half of the first. Upper Dauphin took the lead with three runs in the fourth inning, taking a 4-2 lead.
It was Grace Klinger that put the nail in the coffin for Millersburg, launching a shot that came within a few feet of going over the fence for a triple, and then scoring when the ball went out of play on the relay throw.


Klinger had two RBIs in the game for the Trojans with Megan Crosby, Emily Fox, and Alli Snyder all knocking in runs for the victors. Weaver was also the winning pitcher, striking out four while allowing two walks and six hits.
Lydia Troutman, Tatum Lloyd and Cheyanne Phillips, in a losing effort on the mound, knocked in runs for Millersburg, which dropped to 12-7 on the season.

ELIZABETHVILLE — Mickayla Grow pitched her team into the Tri-Valley League Championship game with an outstanding effort, striking out 10 and walking none while only allowing two hits in the complete-game win May 17.
Grow helped herself at the plate as well, notching two hits and driving in a run for Upper Dauphin, while Megan Crosby had a 3-for-3 day at the plate, driving in a run.

MILLERSTOWN — Lindsay Casner had a big day for Millersburg, helping her team earn their ticket to the Tri-Valley League finals.
Casner ripped a two-run single to help Millersburg take the lead over Greenwood, then came on in relief of starting pitcher Cheyanne Phillips to pick up the win on the mound.
Mariah Armor and Lydia Troutman each had two hits for the Indians in the win.
