Fourth Annual Hot Potato 5K and Tater Tot Trot scheduled for June 11

SACRAMENTO – Sterman Masser, Inc., Pennsylvania’s premier fresh potato grower and distributor, is excited to host Hegins Valley’s 4th Annual Hot Potato 5K Run/Fun Walk and Tater Tot Trot. The Hot Potato 5K will be professionally timed by Mid-Atlantic Timing and will feature a fast course through the streets of Valley View.
Registrants will receive a T-shirt and a goodie bag that will include a voucher for a free loaded baked potato, plus other snacks and prizes. Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, will serve as the headquarters of the race, as well as the location of the start/finish line.
The over-all male and female winner will receive a medal, trophy and $100 gift card. The top three male and female finishers in each 5K age group will receive: a medal (Gold, Silver or Bronze) and a $25 gift card.
The “Tater Tot Trot” will be a one-mile race for kids ages 12 and under. The top three male and female finishers in each Tater Tot Trot age group will receive medals as well and the “Tater Trotters” may still race in the 5K. The “Trot” steps off at 8:15 a.m.
Although race day registration will be available, online pre-registration is strongly recommended and preferred by visiting: http://www.hotpotato5k.org. Entry fee for the 5K is $35 per registrant, all categories. Entry fee for the Tater Tot Trot is $20. Online registration closes May 31 at 11:59 p.m.
The Hot Potato 5K Run/Fun Walk and Tater Tot Trot will be held rain or shine, and fees are non-refundable.
Registrant check-in will be available Friday, June 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sterman Masser, Inc.’s main office in Sacramento; and begins at 7 a.m. on June 11 at Trinity Lutheran Church.
The public is invited to cheer on the runners and partake in during and post-race activities.

The Hot Potato 5k benefits the whole community. All funds will go to the Tri-Valley Youth Activities Fund, which benefit local youth activities and the development of an all-ages recreation/community center in the Tri-Valley Area.
In 2015, the TVYAF awarded over $18,000 in grant monies to local youth organizations from funds raised at the Second Annual Hot Potato 5K.
Currently, the TVYAF is accepting applications for grants to be awarded from the Third Annual Hot Potato 5K funds.
