Sunshine Law violation probed

VALLEY VIEW – A possible Sunshine Law violation was brought to light by Hegins Township resident Darrell Huntsinger during the monthly township meeting held Wednesday, April 4.
Huntsinger said he filed a right to know request for the audio recording from the January 6, 2016 reorganization meeting, but Cathy Moyer, the right to know officer for the township mistakenly gave him the January 2014 recording.

UDA students learn about their future paths

The program, presented on April 6 at Upper Dauphin Area High School, gave students to do research on a chosen career and present the facts to their fellow students in the classroom.

ELIZABETHVILLE – Students in the Upper Dauphin Area School District got a brief idea of their future and what career they want to pick as the high school held its annual Career Day on April 6.
Not only did more than 40 guest speakers come out to talk to the students about how any career they are looking for is handled, senior class members gave oral reports about several different careers.


Supervisors inform residents of gas pipeline meeting

MOLLEYSTOWN – The Tremont Township supervisors informed residents April 4 of a recent meeting they had with representatives of Williams Partners, L.P. covering the status of the proposed natural gas pipeline to be constructed in the area, the Atlantic Sunrise Expansion Project.
“They gave a lot of paperwork,” said chairman Herman Lengle which was sent to the township solicitor for review. (more…)

Fourth Annual Hot Potato 5K and Tater Tot Trot scheduled for June 11

Presented by Sterling Masser Inc., proceeds from the race benefits the Tri-Valley Youth Activities Fund, and will be held on Saturday, June 11. beginning with the Tater Tot Trot at 8:15 a.m.

SACRAMENTO – Sterman Masser, Inc., Pennsylvania’s premier fresh potato grower and distributor, is excited to host Hegins Valley’s 4th Annual Hot Potato 5K Run/Fun Walk and Tater Tot Trot. The Hot Potato 5K will be professionally timed by Mid-Atlantic Timing and will feature a fast course through the streets of Valley View.
Registrants will receive a T-shirt and a goodie bag that will include a voucher for a free loaded baked potato, plus other snacks and prizes. Trinity Lutheran Church, Valley View, will serve as the headquarters of the race, as well as the location of the start/finish line.
The over-all male and female winner will receive a medal, trophy and $100 gift card. The top three male and female finishers in each 5K age group will receive: a medal (Gold, Silver or Bronze) and a $25 gift card. (more…)
