MILLERSBURG - Ian Buffington scored a game-high 15 points, including a key pair of free throws in the final minute, as Upper Dauphin captured the championship of the WQLV Tournament with a 49-46 victory over Williams Valley on Friday, Dec. 28 at Millersburg High School.
Buffington and Austin A. Weaver each had 15 for the Trojans, while Matt Miller added 12. Upper Dauphin led 21-20 at halftime, then used a 16-6, third-quarter outburst to lead 37-26 with eight minutes remaining.
Williams Valley, however, stormed back as Stephen Sedesse scored 10 of his team-high 14 points in the fourth quarter and Dennis Jansen tallied seven of his 12.
The Vikings tied the game on a Sedesse layup with 1:55 remaining. Upper Dauphin regained the lead with a field goal. After a Vikings' free throw, Buffington upped the margin to three points with a pair of foul shots with 30 seconds to go.
The Vikings had one final shot to tie the contest, but Jansen's contested 3-pointer from the corner in the final seconds missed.

COAL TOWNSHIP - Zack Oquendo scored a game-high 16 points and pulled down eight rebounds as the Red Raiders routed the Eagles in the opening round of the 46th annual Shamokin Knights of Columbus Tournament at Shamokin Area High School.
Matt Savitski added 15 points, while Anthony Pennypacker tallied 12 points and collected nine rebounds for Lourdes, which faced Shamokin in the championship game.
MILLERSBURG - Devin Masser drained six 3-pointers and poured in a game-high 26 points as the Dawgs won the consolation game of the WQLV Tournament.

PINE GROVE - Zach Kozick scored 15 points and Brett Berg added 13 as the Ironmen rolled past the Cardinals in the consolation game of the Cardinal Classic.
Brett Kreiser paced Pine Grove with nine points.
Wms. Valley 77
MILLERSBURG - Stephen Sedesse led all scorers with 19 points as Williams Valley rolled to a 77-52 victory over Millersburg in an opening-round game December 27 of the WQLV Holiday Tournament.
Brendan Miller added 12 points, while Owen Daniel and Ben Rautzahn had 11 points apiece as the Vikings raced out to a 49-16 advantage at the half.
In the other semifinal, Ian Buffington scored 22 points as Upper Dauphin cruised past Tri-Valley 56-29.
Matt Miller added 12 points for the Trojans, which used a 16-3 fourth-quarter run to put the game away.

ELIZABETHVILLE - Ian Buffington poured in 18 points and the Trojans trounced the Buffaloes in a Tri-Valley League game.
Austin A. Weaver scored 17 points, while Kane Bouchard added 16 for Upper Dauphin.

TOWER CITY - Dennis Jansen drained four 3-pointers and the Vikings hit 11 treys as a team to down the Cardinals in a non-league game.
Colin Harrison scored 16 points, Jansen added 13 and Stephen Sedesse chipped in 10 for Williams Valley.
Wade Bressler had 16 points to lead Pine Grove. Teammate Jacob Wolfe chipped in 14.
