Schoffstall, Lansberry, Rummel garner titles

WILLIAMSPORT - The Dawgs' Ty Schoffstall picked up right where he left off last season.

The state bronze medalist won the 160-pound championship Saturday, Dec. 8 at the Top Hat Tournament. He crushed Titusville's Ehrin Lee by technical fall to cap a 4-0 weekend.

Blake Bowman (152) went 4-1 to place third and notch his 100th career win. Bowman is 100-33.

Caleb Bordner (120) went 3-1 to place second, while Lyle Troutman (195) went 3-1 to finish third. Other place-winners for the Dawgs included Chase Schaeffer, fourth at 138; Hunter Harner, seventh at 145; Anthony Snyder, eighth at 170; and Mason White, seventh at 220.

Central Columbia won the team title. Tri-Valley finished tied for fourth despite entering just nine wrestlers.

Meanwhile, Seth Lansberry captured the 145-pound championship and five other Line Mountain wrestlers placed in the Top Hat tourney. Lansberry defeated Zak Herman of Jersey Shore 6-3 in the final.

Other Eagles who earned places were Erik Smeltz (182), Colton Zimmerman (126), both fourth; Cameron Newman (113), fifth; Rayce Boyer (195), seventh; and Britton Heim (160), eighth.

DKI Wrestling Tourney

BLOOMSBURG - Williams Valley's J.R. Rummel, a senior, lived up to his No.1 seed at 195-pounds with three decisive victories. After a pair of falls, Rummel overpowered Canton's Connor Route 8-3 in the finals. The gold marked Rummel's first of his varsity career.

Jim Thorpe Duals

JIM THORPE - Upper Dauphin had a 2-3 day, defeating Jim Thorpe 51-30 and Coatesville 54-27 but falling to Panther Valley 46-18, Pottstown 38-32 and Conestoga Valley 69-9. Cody Snyder (138) and David Miller (145) both went 4-1 for the Trojans.
