Line Mountain, Upper Dauphin earn court victories in TVL

While poor weather may have postponed part of the girls' basketball schedule, Tri-Valley remained undefeated at the top of Division II in the Schuylkill League. Pine Grove was in the middle of the pack in Division I at 10-5. In the Tri-Valley League, Upper Dauphin split a pair of games and rescheduled their match-up at Palmyra for February 8. Line Mountain continued the Eagles' winning streak last week and had two athletes score over 1,000 career points. (See more details, page 10.)

NEWPORT - Kayleigh Ney scored a game-high 14 points and Katie Schwenk chipped in 12 as the Trojans marched to a Tri-Valley League victory over the Buffaloes on January 20.

TOWER CITY - Freshman Abigail Snitzer tallied a game-high 19 points, including three 3-pointers, in the Blue Devils' Division II-III crossover win over the Vikings.

Millersburg 50

Wms. Valley 33

TOWER CITY - Cassidy Pinchorski scored a game-high 15 points for Williams Valley, but the Vikings dropped a non-league game to Millersburg.

Line Mtn. 44

Danville 37

MANDATA - Mikhail Whitcomb scored 18 points, and Kasey Long added 15 to lead the Eagles to a non-league victory over the Ironmen. Rachel Herman scored 18 points for Danville.

Pine Grove 73

Upper Dauphin 30

PINE GROVE - Junior Steffi Sampson scored 14 points and added eight rebounds and seven steals as the Cardinals jumped out to a big lead after the first quarter in their non-league victory over the Trojans.

Samantha Bertasavage added 13 points for Pine Grove, with 11 coming in the first quarter as the Cardinals opened the game on a 24-12 run and led 41-20 at the half.

Becky Evans also scored 11 points and grabbed nine steals for the Cardinals.

Kayleigh Ney had 10 points to lead Upper Dauphin.

UDA game postponed

The Upper Dauphin girls' basketball game slated for Saturday, Jan. 21 has been rescheduled for February 8 at 7 p.m. at Palmyra.
