Dawgs win Bedford Tourney

BEDFORD - Tri-Valley is proving to be quite a tournament team.
Less than a week after winning the Schuylkill League Wrestling Tournament team title, the Dawgs did it again.
On January 28, Tri-Valley won the crown at the 25-team Thomas Subaru Wrestling Tournament at Bedford High School.
Caleb Bordner (106), Ty Schoffstall (152) and Sam Scheib (160) earned individual championships as the Dawgs compiled 185 points. Chestnut Ridge (176) finished second and Bedford (171.5) was third.
Seeded fourth, Bordner (24-7) set the tone by sticking Claysburg-Kimmel's Josh Brown (23-3) in the finals in 2:35.
Schoffstall (21-2) was dominant with three falls - 27 seconds, 1:00 and 1:03 - and a 15-7 major decision in the semifinals. The top-seeded Schoffstall needed 63 seconds to pin Conemaugh Township's Cory Berchick (27-1) in the finals.
Also a No. 1 seed, Scheib (25-2) decked Somerset's Michael Sutton in 2:56 to take the gold. Scheib pinned all four of his opponents in the tournament.
Conemaugh Township's Tanner Cahill (24-4) posted an 11-7 decision over No. 1 seed Blake Bowman (25-5).
Hunter Harner (126) took third, while Evan Heffron (182) and Lyle Troutman (195) placed fourth for the Dawgs.
