In recent Schuylkill League girls' soccer action, Pottsville and Tamaqua were atop Division I, with the Tide clinching the Division, and Schuylkill Haven and Minersville were the Division II leaders, followed by Tri-Valley and Williams Valley.

HEGINS - Jess Bernd scored two goals and added an assist as the Bulldogs topped the Wreckers in a Division II match October 8.

Tri-Valley used two goalkeepers to preserve the shutout as Danielle Kramer (10 saves) and Megan Boyer (3) combined for the shutout. Rieley Reed added Tri-Valley's other goal.

BLOOMSBURG - Shannon Zimmerman scored two goals, one in each half, to lead the Cardinals to a Division I win over the Rams.

Col-Mon Vo-Tech opened the scoring with a Vicki Dietz tally, but Pine Grove scored four unanswered tallies in the comeback win.

MINERSVILLE - Amanda Purcell netted a hat trick in pacing the Miners to a Division II win over the Vikings.

Hannah Rinaldo scored two goals and assisted on another, while Maria Kostura made three saves in earning the shutout.

WEATHERLY - Brittany Smeltz scored the game's only goal off an assist by Rieley Reed as the Dawgs edged the Wreckers in a Schuylkill League Division II game October 1.

The victory, Tri-Valley's eighth straight game without a loss, qualified the Dawgs for the District 11 playoffs for the fifth consecutive year.

"Over the last eight games, we have outscored our opponents 25-3 and earned five defensive shutouts," said Dawgs' Coach Rahn Richards.

Weatherly's Kali Coll made 22 saves to keep the Wreckers in it.

PINE GROVE - Emma Koontz recorded four goals as the Cardinals routed the Eagles in a non-league match.

Jess Fath scored two goals, while teammate Shannon Zimmerman added a goal and three assists.

S. Haven 6

Wms. Valley 0

TOWER CITY - Shelby Trumbo and Kelsey Sisko each had two goals as the Hurricanes shut out the Vikings in a Division II match.

Rileigh Evitts and Julia Speciale also scored goals for Schuykill Haven, with Genie Tucci recording the shutout in goal. The Hurricanes outshot the Vikings 23-2.

Game rescheduled

The Tri-Valley at Nativity girls' soccer game has been rescheduled for October 11.

HEGINS - Jessica Bernd scored twice, including the game-winner in the 95th minute, as the Bulldogs upset the Hurricanes in a Division II contest at Bulldog Stadium on September 29.

Jade Wilson tied the game in the 50th minute for Schuylkill Haven.

Tri-Valley's Keeper Megan Boyer had 12 saves, while Schuylkill Haven's Keeper Genie Tucci made 4.

WILLIAMSTOWN - Hannah Nestor had a hat trick and an assist in the Vikings' Division II victory over the Green Wave.

Keegan White scored twice for Nativity.

PINE GROVE - Kyra Bulino had two goals and an assist, while Pottsville posted its third consecutive shutout and fifth straight win with a 5-0 Schuylkill League Div. I girls' victory over Pine Grove at Cardinal Stadium.

HEGINS - The Miners remained unbeaten in Division II play, battling the Dawgs to an overtime tie.

Lyndsey Snyder got Minersville (7-1-2, 5-0-2) on the board with an unassisted goal at the 15:04 mark of the first half before Tri-Valley (7-5-2, 4-2-2) tied it up on a goal by Brianna Wiscount off an assist by Brittany Smeltz.

Maria Kostura saved 17 shots for the Miners to keep the Bulldogs scoreless the rest of the way. Tri-Valley goalie Megan Boyer did her part with 12 saves.

Lourdes 1

COAL TOWNSHIP - Hannah Nestor and Kyrsten Miller scored second-half goals as the Vikings outlasted the Red Raiders in a Division II match.

Nestor's goal broke a 1-1 halftime tie. Miller scored an unassisted goal later in the half to pad the lead.

Lourdes took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by Nikki Komara before the Vikings tied it on a goal by Ashley Donmoyer.

Pine Grove 0

PINE GROVE - Jacqueline Woleschok scored on a penalty kick with 3:18 left in overtime to give Blue Mountain a 1-0 victory over Pine Grove in a Schuylkill League Division I girls' soccer match September 26.

The Eagles (7-5, 6-2 D-I) and Cardinals (9-4, 5-3) battled through 96 minutes of scoreless soccer before the Cardinals were whistled for a foul in the penalty area.

Woleschok converted the ensuing penalty kick, giving the Eagles the victory.

Breanna Sattizahn saved five shots in goal for the Cardinals, while Sarah Xenophon had four saves for Blue Mountain.

WILIAMSTOWN - Jessica Bernd's goal on a penalty kick early in the second half proved to be the difference during the Bulldogs' Division II win over the rival Vikings at Viking Stadium.

Brittany Smeltz's goal in the first half gave Tri-Valley a 1-0 halftime advantage before Bernd added to the lead.

Williams Valley got on the board with three minutes left in the game on a penalty kick by Hannah Nestor.
