William H. Blanning, 95, of Washington DC, formerly of Williamstown, died recently in Washington DC.

Born in Williamstown, December 13, 1916, he was a son of the late William and Daisy Ramsey Blanning.

He was a graduate of Williamstown High School and Dickinson College. He was of the Methodist Faith.

While in Williamstown he was affiliated with Blanning Hardware Store, in Lykens and Williamstown. He retired from the federal government in Washington, DC. He was a noted collector of American crafts and paperweights.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Blanning's legacy will live on for students graduating from the Williams Valley School District. They will be the beneficiaries of his estate. A college endowment fund has been established at Penn State University for qualified recipients.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, Oct. 24 from Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown with Rev. Dr. Stevan Atanasoff officiating. Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. ,Williamstown, was entrusted with arrangements. To sign the guest book visit www.dimonfuneralhome.com.
