Velda M. (Eshelman) Keener, 74, of York, died at her home Friday, Feb. 5.
Born June 29, 1935 in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Clyde K., and Florence (Rohrer) Eshelman. Mrs. Keener was preceded in death by her husband, George Barr Keener.
Mrs. Keener was a very devoted member of York Bible Church, where she helped establish a widows group, and a former member of Millersville Bible Church. Velda was an active and gracious woman, even while her health declined. Mrs. Keener enjoyed traveling, crafts, sewing and cooking. Above all, she cherished time spent with and caring for her loving family.
Velda is survived by her twin daughters, Karen K. Bachman, of Lebanon and Dr. Kathryn K., wife of Jay Hassinger of York; a brother, Guy R. Eshelman of Lancaster; a sister, Miriam Stauffer of Lancaster; seven grandchildren, Kristine, Kelsey and Erica Bachman, Hannah, Benjamin, Abigail, and Andrew Hassinger.
Memorial services were held Friday, Feb. 12, at Millersville Bible Church, 1940 New Danville Pike, Lancaster, with Rev. Steve Cornell officiating. Burial will be private and at the discretion of the family.
