Thomas Barrett, 56, of Pine Grove, died Tuesday, June 29, at his residence.
Born in Ashland, Sept. 27, 1953, he was a son of the late Thomas and Dorothy Balousky Barrett.
He graduated from Cardinal Brennan High School.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Harrisburg, as a postal dispatcher.
He was a member of the Postal Workers Union, Ten Pin Pool Team and the Sons of Italy, Girardville.
Tom loved his daughters, Holly and Noelle, his brothers, sisters, family and friends.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, concerts, golf, Tony's burgers, Centiole's pizza, Green Bay Packers, New York Mets, barbecuing, vacations and the mountains. He was an avid reader with a sharp keen mind that allowed him to complete any crossword puzzle in any newspaper. His natural ability to read and remember something was a God-given talent. We always said we should sign him up as a contestant for a game show, as he would have been the big prize winner. He possessed great organizational skills and was a great person that thought outside the box. He was a man of wisdom, always there to lean on in your time of need. His heart, soul and mind was always open and he was always a good listener. Tom was the rock of our family and will be missed. Our loss is heaven's gain.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Roseanne Barrett, on June 15, 2007.
Surviving are two daughters, Holly, Pine Grove, and Noelle, Annville; two sisters and a brother, Kathy Waschek, Theresa Tomashitis and James Barrett, all of Ashland; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, July 3, at St. Joseph Church, Ashland, with the Rev. John W. Bambrick officiating. Interment was at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashland. Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, was in charge of arrangements. Visit www.kullfuneral.com.
