Terry Lee "Rat" Schwalm , 64, of 1439 W. Maple St., Valley View, died Friday, March 22, at Schuylkill Medical Center- S.

Jackson, Pottsville.

He was born on Friday, Oct. 1, 1948, in Pottsville, a son of Rebecca (Conrad) Schwalm of Valley View and the late Jacob Schwalm.

He was a graduate of Tri-Valley High School class of 1966 and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Penn Fishing for 30 years and retired from Zemco Tool & Die in 2008 when he became disabled.

His grandchildren and his family were the joy of his life. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working, Philadelphia Phillies baseball and Philadelphia Eagles football.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Post 8237 and Valley View Gun Club.

He is survived by his wife Susan (Unger) Schwalm, to whom he was married for 21 years.

He is also survived by a daughter - Jennifer Basom of Camp Hill, PA; a son - Ross Schwalm and his wife Jamie of Valley View; a step-daughter - Jill Miller and her husband Tim of Hegins; a step-son - Dustin Rickert of Pitman; six grandchildren - Jordan Schwalm, Jackson Basom, Kole, Owen and Gracyn Miller and Dustin Rickert, Jr.; two brothers - Steve Schwalm and Tom Schwalm both of Valley View; an uncle - Henry Schwalm of Coal Township; two aunts - Reeta Otto of New Cumberland and Phyllis Kemble of Townsend, DE; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View where the memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Curtis Zemencik officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Pine Creek Trout Nursery, 1524 West Maple St., Valley View, PA 17983. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements.
