Samuel J. Noecker, 74, of Northumberland, died on January 17, 2013, at his residence.

He was born in Herndon, on April 10, 1938, a son of the late Dorothy J. Leitzel and the late William H. Noecker.

Samuel was employed as a welder for Chicago Bridge and Iron, in Newcastle, Del. He was the husband of Lucille (Witmer) Noecker. Samuel served in the Army.

He was a member of the National Transit Boilermaker Union, and Northumberland No. 1 Fire Company.

Samuel is survived by his spouse, Lucille Noecker; four sons, Glen A. Leitzel of Danville, Dale E. Leitzel of Herndon, Keith A. Leitzel of Pillow, Lynn A. Leitzel of Sunbury; three sisters, Shirley Shell of Carsonville, Jean Noecker of Sunbury, Betty Kelly of Northumberland; two brothers, Richard Noecker of West Cameron, Robert Noecker of Trevorton.

He was preceded in death by son, Timothy Noecker (1987); son, Steven Noecker (2010); brother, William Noecker (2011); and a sister, Arlean Noecker (1936).

Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 22, at James A. Reed Funeral Home, Pillow, with Rev. Robert Barner, officiating. Interment was in the Riverview Memorial Park, Halifax.
