Ronald O. Shaffer, 78, of Dalmatia, died January 23, 2013, at his residence.

He was born in Elizabethville, on December 18, 1934, a son of the late Mabel E. (Miller) Shaffer and the late Raymond D. Shaffer.

Ronald was employed as a farmer and truck driver.

He was the husband of Evelyn (Daniel) Shaffer, married since 1963.

Ronald served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Grace Community Church, Herndon, where he served on the board.

Ronald is survived by his spouse, Evelyn Shaffer; four daughters, Debra Baumert and husband George of Dalmatia, Robin Lesher of Dalmatia, Rennee Miller of Dalmatia, Lynnette Weikel and husband Michael of Dalmatia; three sons, Darrell E. Shaffer and wife Cindy of Dalmatia, Cyril Shaffer and wife Sarah of Dalmatia, Ronald O. Shaffer, Jr. and wife Kim of Dalmatia; 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Calvin Shaffer and wife Carol; and a sister, Sandy Shaffer-Mattern.

A memorial service was held Monday, Jan. 28, at Grace Community Church, Herndon, with Rev. Gerald Evans, officiating.

Interment was private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace Community Church.
