Robert L. "Bobby" Mattis, Jr, 43, of 1006 W. Mountain Road, Hegins, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013.

He was born on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1970, in Pottsville, a son of Robert L. Mattis, Sr. and Susan M. Smith Mattis of Sacramento.

He was a 1990 graduate of Tri-Valley High School.

He was a truck driver for JB Hunt.

He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sacramento.

He was also a member of the Sacramento Fire Company for 24 years and the Hegins Ambulance Association.

Bobby was an avid hunter and enjoyed surf fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Heather A. Schwalm Mattis, to whom he was married for 20 years.

Surviving in addition to his parents and his wife are a son, Colby R. Mattis and a daughter, Abigail E. Mattis both of Hegins; a brother, Jeffrey Mattis and his wife Kim of Hegins; and a sister, Tammy L. Girard of Spring Glen.

Funeral services were held at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Monday, Oct. 21, with Rev. Curtis Zemencik officiating.
