Robert J. Boyer, 80, of Williamstown, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at his home after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Williamstown, March 7, 1933, he was a son of the late Arthur and Blanche Schnell Boyer. Bob was a 1951 graduate of the former Williamstown High School.
He was a United States Air Force Special Services veteran during the Korean War, having a membership with the Berlin Island Association.
Bob retired after 40 years of service with PA Department of Revenue.
He was an active life member of the Williamstown VFW and the Williamstown American Legion where he was always willing to lend a hand. He was a social member of the Liberty Hose Company No. 1, Williamstown. Bob was also a former member of the Williams Valley School Board.
Bob had a talent with computers and radios, he was accomplished in Morse Code and held his Amateur Radio License. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid card player.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Dale Boyer.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Rosemary T. Platzer Boyer; three sons, Robert J. Boyer and his wife Lisa, Tampa FL; Paul A. Boyer and his wife Kimberly, Lykens and Mathew D. Boyer and his wife Maggie, Pine Grove; seven grandchildren, Damien Silks; Devon, Andrew, Adam, Brian, Mason and Mallory Boyer; one great-grandson, Jayden Silks; a sister, Carol Flail, Frackville; a brother, Ray Boyer, Texas; nieces and nephews.
Catholic Funeral Liturgy services were held Friday, Jan. 24 from Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Williamstown with Revs. C. Anthony Miller and Paul Rothermel as concelebrants. Burial with military honors was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
