Raymond G. Johns, 73, formerly of Tower City, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 at his home in New Canton, VA.

He was born on January 14, 1940 in Bloomsburg, a son of the late Dorothy Rinker Johns and John Johns. He graduated from the former New Cumberland High School.

Ray retired from Amp, Inc. in Tower City. He was a former church councilman of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Tower City, former member of the Tower City Jaycees and he volunteered for several years with the Porter-Tower Recreation League.

He is survived by his wife, Darlis Johns, New Canton, VA.; a son, Tedd Johns, Tower City; two granddaughters, Vanessa Johns and Lexi Johns of Tower City; a sister, Carol Johns, York Haven; two step-sons, Christoper Milletics, Mechanicsburg; Timothy Milletics, Oberlin; two step-daughters, Christina Almond, New Canton, VA; Mary Milletics, Fort Erie, Canada; and five step-grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Ryan, Alex and Austin.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 at the Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn, VA. David Cole, Chaplain for Legacy Hospice of Charlottesville, VA will minister the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Legacy Hospice of Charlottesville, VA or Buckingham Rescue Squad, Dillwyn, VA.
