Ray F. Ney, 88, formerly of Orwin, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Donaldson, Sept. 19, 1924, he was a son of the late John and Ada Zimmerman Ney.

Ray proudly retired from the Marine Corps after 32 years. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton; a life member of the American Legion and VFW; a life member of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Marine Division Association; Marine Corps League, Navy League; Medinah Shrine Club, Tall Cedars of Lebanon and Tall Cedars Foundation; Simper Fidelis Lodge, F&AM; Medinah Consistory.

Ray was coordinator in forming the Tower City/Porter Veterans Memorial.

He was preceded in death by a son, David Ney, who died in Vietnam; a sister, Ethel Radel; a brother, Paul Ney.

Surviving are a daughter, Melanie R. Stranix and her husband, Tom, Maryland; a son, Paul E. Ney, Germany; a grandson, Zachary Stranix, Maryland; his companion of 20 years, Muriel A. Bettinger, Tremont.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Jan. 19 from St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Reinerton, with Rev. Warren Egebo. Burial with military honors will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery and will be private.
