Ralph I. Gessner, 92 of Millersburg, formerly of Pillow, died Monday, Feb. 15, at The Manor at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg.
Ralph was born in Jackson Twp on September 7, 1917, the son of the late William D. and Jennie (Wert) Gessner. He was the widower of the late Elsie (Knoarr) Gessner.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz, and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked as a lumber man, the original owner and operator of Gessner Logging, Lykens Twp. He was an avid big game hunter.
Ralph is surived by a daughter, Verdanine, wife of Charles Bonawitz of Berrysburg; two sons, Dale, husband of Arlene Gessner of Dalmatia, and Vernon, husband of Dorcas Gessner of Lykens Twp. He is also survived by two sisters, Ester Maneval of Dalmatia and Violet Gessner of Gratz; also by 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation was on Thursday, Feb. 18 at the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, Gratz, and on Friday, Feb. 19, also at the church. Religious services were held on Friday, Feb. 19, at the church. Internment was at the Emmanuel Wesleyan Church Cemetery, Gratz.
