Mildred F. Wessner, 95, of Pine Grove, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Born in El Paso, Texas, Aug. 25, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Ola Newlon and Howard M. Mills.

She was the wife of Albert L. Wessner, who passed away in 1969.

She worked as a waitress and cook for most of her life. She was also a volunteer at the former Good Samaritan Hospital.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Arnold Reynolds; and a brother, Leonard Mills.

Millie is survived by two sons, Kurt Wessner, Pine Grove, and Thomas Reynolds, Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Margaret Modesto, Crossville, Tenn.; brothers, Howard Mills, Harpers Ferry, William Mills, Cressona, and Albert Mills, Pennsylvania; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., 25 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven, with Pastor Richard Schoenleber officiating. A viewing for family and friends was held from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. At the family's request, memorial donations may be sent to St. Peters Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA 17963. Interment will be private at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery.
