Michael R. McAloose, 53, of Tower City, died Saturday, Jan. 16, at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, after a nine-year courageous fight with cancer.
Michael was born in Lykens on March 23, 1956, a son of Frank and Mary Amalavage McAloose, Tower City. He was a 1974 graduate of Williams Valley High School and attended Penn State University and Harrisburg Area Community College.
Mike was a production technician with Reiff and Nestor, Lykens, with more than 30 years of service.
He was a member Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Tower City, Orwin Gun Club and Williamstown American Legion. Mike was also a guitar player with the former Star Fire Band.
Mike had a love for life, anyone he met soon became his friend. He was a huge Jimmy Buffett fan and took great pride in being a Parrot head. He loved vacationing at his two favorite places on earth, Stone Harbor and Key West. He was an accomplished artist and a lifelong Beatles fan. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and Notre Dame.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife of 18 years, Jody E. Deibler McAloose; his daughter, Meredith A. Shambaugh and her husband, Ryan, Carlisle; his sister, Michele M. Leaman and her husband, Michael, Elizabethtown; his grandson, his pride and joy, Michael R. Shambaugh; nieces, Leslie Merwine and Alexis Deibler; nephews, Michael Merwine, Ben and Seth Leaman; many dear friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 20, from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes Inc. with the Rev. Dominik Kalata officiating. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Williamstown.
