Marlin E. Knoll, 84, of Pine Grove, died Saturday, October 13 in Seton Manor with his family at his side.
Born on June 4, 1928, in Washington Township, he was a son of the late Edward and Olive Romberger Knoll.
Marlin attended Cressona High School.
He was an Army veteran who served with the Hq & Service Co., 13th Engineer Btn. during the end of World War II, and the Army of Occupation in Korea with the 7th Division. He received the Army Of Occupation Medal for Japan and the World War II Victory Medal.
Marlin was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, where he served on the Cemetery Board for many years.
He was a founding and charter member of the Brookside Gun Club.
Marlin had been employed at H.M. Felty Inc., Pine Grove, for more than 35 years.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his son, Len A. Knoll; and a sister, Margaret Kendall.
Surviving are his wife, with whom he celebrated 61 years of marriage in September, Arlene Smith Knoll; a daughter, Shelly, wife of David Derfler; two sons, Randall, husband of Andrea Knoll, both of Pine Grove, James and wife, Jennifer Knoll, Tampa, Fla.; four grandsons, Jason Knoll, Zachary Knoll, Derek Knoll and Colin Knoll; two granddaughters, Natalie McClafflin and Katlind Knoll; a great-granddaughter, Tanisha Knoll; a sister, Ruth, wife of Charles Weand; and a brother, Harvey, husband of Gloria Knoll, both of Harrisburg.
Funeral services were held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 17 at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with Dr. Richard W. Schoenleber officiating. Interment was in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove. The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to either the St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA 17963, or to the American Cancer Society, 16 N. Fourth Street, Minersville, PA 17954, in his memory.
