Loretta J. Bixler

Loretta J. Bixler, 75, a former Hegins area resident, died Friday, Oct. 19, at Fairwood Retirement Village, Spokane, Wash.

Born in Barry Township, Dec. 9, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Gertrude Klinger Fey. She attended the former Hegins Township School and was employed as a floor lady for J.E. Morgan Mills, Valley View, until the closing of the mill. Loretta continued to work for Valley View Gun Club and Hegins VFW until her retirement.

She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Weishample.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester "Hess" Bixler, in July 1992.

Surviving are a daughter, Susan, wife of Randy Spacek, Spokane, Wash.; a son, Gurney Bixler, Georgia; a sister, Shirley Fey Buffington, Lykens; brothers, Raymond Fey and Edward Fey, both of Barry Township, and Thomas Fey, Wyomissing; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services were held Friday, Oct. 26, at Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland, with the Rev. Dennis O'Brien, pastor of Tri- Valley Bible Church, Valley View, officiating. Interment was in Salem Methodist Cemetery, Weishample. Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, Ashland, was in charge of arrangements.
