Lloyd D. "Red" Houtz, 95, of Tower City died Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at the Schuylkill Center, Pottsville.

Born in Tower City, December 4, 1918, he was a son of the late Jacob and Jennie Poffenberger Houtz.

He was a W.W. II Army Air Corps Veteran.

Lloyd retired from the former Olmstead Air Force Base, Middletown.

He was an active member of the Trinity United Church of Christ; a charter member of the Porter Tower Lions Club; life member of the Tower City Loyal Order of Moose and Tower City American Legion.

Lloyd enjoyed gardening, reading and going for his daily walks.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. Tower City. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery with military honors. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers donations should be made to Trinity UCC 446 E. Grand Avenue, Tower City PA 17980.
