Leah C. Smeltz, 90, of Lewisburg died Sunday, Sept. 23, at Elmcroft of Lewisburg Senior Living Community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd M. Smeltz who died June 5, 2011.

Born Sunday, March 5, 1922 in RD Herndon, she was a daughter of the late William and Cindy (Reigel) Schlegel.

She graduated in 1940 from Lower Mahanoy High School. Leah worked at the former Garment Factory in Millersburg and also was employed at the Country Kitchen and The Hut.

She was a member of Himmel's Church and its Women's group and also a member of the Idella Rebekah Lodge # 58 of Dornsife where she was a past noble grand.

She enjoyed ceramics and later in life greatly enjoyed word finds and bingo.

Surviving are two sons, Laverne Smeltz and his wife Dianne of Dalmatia and Dennis Smeltz and his wife May Ann of Dalmatia; two daughters, Donna Rebuck and her companion Terry Haine, of Millersburg, and Sharon Morgan and her husband Richard of Watsontown; a daughter-in-law, Carol Smeltz of Sunbury; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; one brother, Neil Schlegel of Pillow; one sister, Phyllis Byerly of RD Herndon; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Barry Smeltz; an infant grandson; a great granddaughter; two brothers, Dallas and Darvin Schlegel; and a sister, Emma Eyster.

A viewing will be held on Friday, Sept. 28, from 10-11 a.m. at Himmel's Church, Rebuck, where the funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jane Compton, and Pastor Butch Woolsey officiating. Interment will follow in Himmel's Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Himmel's Church, 1941 Schwaben Creek Rd., Rebuck, PA 17867.
