Katherine S. Pianovich, 87, died Saturday, June 26, in the Manor at Susquehanna Village, Millersburg.
Born December 14, 1922 in Edwardsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ignatz and Mary Wanchisen Seman and was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dr. Alexander Pianovich who died March 4.
She was a graduate of Edwardsville High School and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked with her late husband for more than 50 years in his dental practice and in later years with their son, serving all people with dignity and compassion. A faithful member of Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, she also was a member of the Lykens Garden Club.
Katherine is survived by: a son: Dr Paul Pianovich and his wife Jane, Lykens; a daughter: Susan Chominski and her husband, Archpriest Vladimir Chominski, Elmwood Park, IL; a sister: Julia Semen, Kingston; 3 grandchildren: Alexander Pianovich, Stephen Pianovich, both of Lykens and Anastasia Chominski, Elmowood Park, IL.
Services were held Tuesday, June 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, where a Parastas Service was held at 8 p.m., with Archpriest Michael H. Evans officiating. A Requiem Service was held Wednesday, June 30, at St. Tikhon's Orthodox Monastery Church, South Canaan, PA with area clergy officiating. Interment followed in St. Tikhon's Orthodox Cemetery, South Canaan. Russin Funeral Home has charge of these arrangements.
The family requests that memorial contributions in Katherine's memory may be made to Holy Ascension Orthodox Church, 756 North Second St., Lykens, PA 17048.
