Karl Richard Hand, 77, a resident of the Manor of the Susquehanna Village, Millersburg, formerly of Williamstown, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 at Harrisburg Hospital.

Born in Williamstown, February 26, 1936, he was a son of the late Elmer and Lottie Jones Hand.

Karl was a graduate of the former Williamstown High School. He retired in 1991 as branch manager of the former Miners National Bank, Williamstown; he also worked at Weis Market in Williamstown as a young man.

He was an active member of the Williamstown United Methodist Church; a member of the Liberty Hose Company #1, Williamstown where he was on the audit committee; very active with the fire police; and Williamstown American Legion. He also served on the Williamstown Sewer Authority.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman; he enjoyed to bowl and cheer for the Phillies, Eagles and Penn State.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Geraldine Barkos and Betty Paul; a brother, William "Bill" Hand; a niece, Deb Barkos Reynolds and a nephew, William "Bill" Hand Jr.

Surviving are three nephews, Tim Hand, Valley View; Mike Barkos, Williamstown and George Barkos, Linglestown; great-nieces, Lisa Miller, Michelle Flynn, Carla Wynn and Nicole Corallo; great-nephews, David and Andrew "AJ" Reynolds; Ryan and Eric Hand.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 8 from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. Tower City with Pastor Monica Romberger officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown.
