share thisJohn R. Herb, age 74, of 432 W. Mt. Road, Hegins, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, at his residence.
He was born in Orwigsburg, son of the late Ray and Alverta Reed Herb.
He was a graduate of Hegins Twp. High School Class of 1953 and attended the University of Maryland.
He served in the U.S. Army 11th Airborne during the Korean War stationed in France.
He was employed by AT&T, Sears, Spread Eagle Farms, Witmer Motors and the Engle-Rissinger Auto Group.
John was a member of Zion Stone Valley Church where he served as council president and Sunday school superintendent. He currently was a choir member and Sunday school teacher. He was also a member of Herndon Lodge #702 F&AM and Tall Cedars #125 Millersburg Forest. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra G. Ressler Herb; a daughter, Holly H. Drumheiser and her husband Todd of Selinsgrove; a grandson, Jacob Reed Robinski; three brothers, Phaon of Pine Grove, Jim of Palmyra and Otis of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, FL; two sisters, June Ebbert of Holly Hills, FL, and Elsie Erk of Erie, CO. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jay, and a sister, Vivian Leininger.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 20, at Stone Valley Church, with Rev. J. Robert Snyder officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Andrews UM Cemetery in Valley View.
