John J. Brill, 79, of Pine Grove, died Sunday, Dec. 16, at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Born in Gloucester City, N.J., April 5, 1933, he was a son of the late John W. and Ida M. Klaus Brill.

John served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict.

He had his master's degree in education and his superintendent certification.

John loved his family, traveling, woodcarving and boating.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Brill.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Joanne D. Light Brill; two sons, John Brill and his wife, Kathy, Mechanicsburg, and Steve Brill and his wife, Holly, Pine Grove; a daughter, Cynthia, wife of Robert Lehman, Pine Grove; eight grandchildren, Tara, Melissa, Bobby, Shay, Lauren, Alexa, Olivia and Eli; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Kain and Julia Rutherford, both of Woodbury, N.J.; a brother, Albert Brill, Chadds Ford.

Memorial services will be held at noon Thursday, Dec. 20, at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. Raymond Hurst officiating. Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his memory to United Cerebral Palsy, 250 Peacock St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
