John E. "Doc" Hand Sr., 83, of Wiconisco, died Monday, Jan. 9, at the Harrisburg Hospital.
Born in Williamstown, February 27, 1928, he was a son of the late Allen and Anna Lynch Hand.
Jack was a graduate of the former Williamstown High School.
He was a WWII Navy Veteran.
He retired as a field auditor with the Pennsylvania State Labor and Industry.
He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, Lykens; a very active member of the Knights of Columbus, Lykens, where he was a 4th degree Knight and a past Grand Knight; a life member of the Williamstown American Legion and a social member of the Wiconisco Fire Company.
Jack was an active member of the community, always willing to lend a hand to help someone.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Elaine Rudisill Hand; six children, Jeanne Sigel and her husband Tom, Lykens; John Hand Jr. and his wife Maria, South Hampton; Thomas Hand and his wife Carol, Fairport, N.Y.; Kathy Spittle and her husband Rod, Tremont; Kerry "Egger" Hand and his wife Maria, Wiconisco and Marie Briner and her husband Dave, Millerstown; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Donna Williard and her husband Al, Williamstown; Dorothy Aderhold, Texas and Joan Gass and her husband Budd, Lykens; nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, Jan. 14 from Our Lady of Help Christian Catholic Church, Lykens, with Rev. C. Anthony Miller as celebrant. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
