John D. "Stick" Margetanski, 68, of Lykens, died Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Harrisburg Hospital.

Born in Lykens, Dec. 14, 1944, he was a son of the late George and Mabel Miller Margetanski.

A 1962 graduate of the former Lykens High School, he was a machine operator for Reiff & Nestor Co.

John was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Roman Catholic Church and American Legion Post 124, both of Lykens.

John enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are his wife, Sharyn Strohecker Margetanski; two sons, Daniel S. Margetanski, New Jersey, and John D. Margetanski Jr., Elizabethville; two daughters, Christine M. Erhardt, New Jersey, and Lee Ann Margetanski, Lykens; two brothers, Larry and Tom Margetanski; four sisters, Eleanor Ramberger, Esther Romberger, Kathryn Messner and Georgina Schaeffer; nine grandchildren, Megan, Walter, Kelli, Edward, Erin, Elizabeth, Anastasia, Timothy and Laci; a great-grandson, John.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, May 1 at Our Lady Help of Christians Church with the Rev. C. Anthony Miller as the celebrant. Inurnment was in the parish cemetery (German Catholic).

Memorial contributions may be made to his church, 732 E. Main St., Lykens, PA 17048. John R. Shultz Funeral Home, Lykens, has charge of arrangements.
