Jean E. McCready, 74, of South Second Street, Lykens, passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at her home with her family by her side.
Born in Wiconisco, Oct. 5, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Allen and Helen Hoover Ney.
Jean was a graduate of the former Wiconisco High School. She retired as a receptionist from the Jewish Home of Greater Harrisburg.
She was of the Protestant faith.
Jean was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; her life revolved around her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Robert Ney; and a sister, Barbara Felton.
Surviving are her two daughters, Lynne Browne and her husband, Barry, Harrisburg, and Judy Krepich, Orwigsburg; four grandchildren, Brandy Ney and her husband, David, with whom Jean resided, Jason Doyle and companion, Denise, Williamstown, Austin Evans, Pottsville, and Kari Evans, Williamstown; three great-grandchildren, Maria Ney, Keira and Kamdin Doyle; five brothers, Richard Nye and his wife, Brenda, Lingelstown, Gary Ney and his wife, Connie, Scott Ney and his wife, Patty, both of Williamstown, Glenn Ney and his wife, Jody, Muir, and James Nye and his companion, Mary, Wiconisco; nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Jan. 9 from the Chapel of Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City. Interment was in Calvary United Methodist Cemetery, Wiconisco.
