Irene E. "Sis" Maurer, 85, of Pitman, PA died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Maurer who passed July 24, 1995.

Born Saturday, October 8, 1927 in Helfenstein, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Olive (Reinoehl) Rabuck. She was employed by the Tri-Valley School District for 27 years working as a cook at the Mahantongo Elementary School and the Tri Valley High School.

Sis was a member of Zion Evangelical Congregational Church of Pitman and the former Daughters of America of Klingerstown.

She enjoyed putting puzzles together and word search books.

Surviving are three daughters, Carol Masser and her husband Bruce of Hegins, Connie Bordner and her husband Harold, of Klingerstown, and Cindy Krout and her husband Jay of Pitman; 7 grandchildren; 1 step great-granddaughter; 9 great grandchildren; one brother, Charlie Mather and his wife Joan of Royersford; one sister, Grace Cowie of Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Weikel and Esther Heim; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son; twin grandsons, Elias and Joshua Krout; two brothers, Bob Rabuck and John Weikel; one half-sister, Loretta Cross and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Heim.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Zion E.C. Church, Pitman, with Rev. Todd Wolfe officiating. Interment was in Zion E.C. Cemetery.
