Harold W. "Benny" Bensinger, 84, of Tower City, died Friday, Oct. 12, at the Tremont Health and Rehab.
Born in Tremont, May 22, 1928, he was a son of the late Francis and Mae Kissinger Bensinger.
Benny was an Army Veteran of the Korean War where he received the purple heart.
He retired from Indiantown Gap as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. He was a member of St. Peter's U.C.C., Orwin; Orwin Fire Company, where he previously served as chief.
He enjoyed walking, camping and took great pride in his Hummer.
In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by his first wife, Kathryn "Kass" Stutzman Bensinger, 1999; a son-in-law, Mitchell Clark, 2010; three sisters, Irene Lehman, Lorraine Berger and Dorothy Doran.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Bordner Bensinger; a daughter, Tracey Clark, Harrisburg; one grandson, Colton Clark; two sisters, Rita Butler, New Cumberland and Marlene Boltz, Pine Grove; brother Francis, Lebanon; four step-children; 12 step grandchildren and 13 step great children; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 18 from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. , Tower City with Rev. Edward Gobrecht officiating. Burial with military honors was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
