Harold R. Eister, 89, of Lavelle, died Monday, June 17, 2013, at the Friendly Home in Pitman.

Born in Lavelle, Sept. 29, 1923, he was a son of the late Daniel W. and Ella Mae Freeman Eister.

He was a member of Christ E.C. Church, Lavelle.

He was a Marine veteran serving proudly in World War II in the South Pacific.

He worked as a miner and later for Alcoa Aluminum Co., Cressona, where he worked as a tool and die maker and machinist until his retirement in 1978.

Harold was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, boating, hunting and fishing.

He was very creative and enjoyed working with wood, making many things for his family and friends.

Harold served as a great role model for his family and friends.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were two brothers, Earl and Wilson; and two sisters, Evelyn and Marion.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Bernice J. Ramer, Lavelle; two daughters, Joann, wife of Kenneth Fry, Lititz, and Virginia, wife of Donald Zerby, Pitman; and a son, Robert, husband of Marianna Corman Eister, Canfield, Ohio; six grandchildren, Nanette, Brian, Kevin, Jonathan, Leah and Daniel; eight great-grandchildren, Tanner, Brianna, Brett, Ty, Chad, Acacia, Addison and A.J; a great-great-grandchild: Nikko.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 20, at Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Michael Eck officiated. Interment was in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Memorial contributions can be made in Harold's memory to Christ E.C. Church, P.O. Box 202, Lavelle, PA 17943. Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, was in charge of arrangements.
