Grace V. Koble, 102, formerly of Pine Grove, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at Schuylkill Center.

Born Dec. 9, 1910, in Wayne Township, she was a daughter of the late Samuel B. and Kathryn Straub Ryland.

Grace was a member of and at the time of her death, was the oldest living member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pine Grove.

Grace and her husband, George Koble, who passed away Oct. 13, 1960, owned and operated Koble's Grocery Store, Pine Grove, for 42 years. After her husband passed away, she continued in business until 1976, when she moved to Schuylkill Haven.

She was a resident of Providence Place, Pottsville, since Feb. 15, 2000.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, are six sisters, Edna R. Heffner, Emma C. Heffner, Mabel I. Freeman, Ruth M. Hummel, Sara M. Merkey and Olive F. Hornberger; and three brothers, C. Harold Ryland, Heber S. Riland  and Leo S. Ryland; two nieces, Catherine Heffner Eves and Zita Merkey Brown; three nephews, Willis L. Heffner, Sterling Merkey and Roger Hornberger.

Surviving are four nieces, Raydelle H. Berger, Pottsville, Elaine Brown, Fountain Valley, Calif., Carol Weiman, Eugene, Ore., and Shirley Koenig, Pine Grove; three nephews, Ryland Merkey, Seattle, Wash., Dr. Lane H. Riland, Langhorne, and Gene Merkey, Pottsville.

Services were held Saturday, Feb. 9 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 222 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, with SALM John Ziegler officiating. Interment followed in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove. Contributions can be made in her memory to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 222 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA 17963. H.L.
