Gertrude M.”Trudy” Troup, 58, of 96 Cave Road, Hegins, died Sunday, Feb. 21, in Conynham Twp., Columbia County, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
She was born on Friday, May 25, 1951 in Shenandoah, a daughter of Gertrude (Becket) Kufrovich of Mahanoy City and the late Anthony Kufrovich.
She was a graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and a 1995 graduate of Geisinger School of Nursing; where she graduated with honors.
She was a Registered Nurse at the Bloomsburg Hospital. She had recieved an award from the American Biographical Institute for the Greatest Women of the 21st Century in Nursing
She was a member of St. John’s “Kimmel’s” United Church of Christ, Barry Twp.
She was active in area Democratic women’s groups.
Over the past few years Trudy had recovered from a brain aneurysm to return to her life long passion of nursing.
She is survived by her husband Duane D. Troup, to whom she was married for 22 years.
Surviving in addition to her mother and husband are two daughters, Annalisa Pulusky of Muncy and Tracy Troup of Shamokin; a son, Jeffrey Bowers of Mahanoy City; seven grandchildren, a sister, Christine Bradley of Easton; two brothers, Jerry Kufrovich and Greg Kufrovich both of Mahanoy City; and a niece and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held at the Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, on Friday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Reid officiating.
A visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be made in St. John’s “Kimmel’s” Cemetery, Barry Twp.
