George William Fronk, 96, of 417 W Main Street, Valley View, died Sunday, Feb. 7, at Saint Catherine Memorial Hospital, Fountain Springs.
He was born on Monday, June 30, 1913 in Aristes, a son of the late George L. Fronk and the late Olive (Richards) Fronk.
He was a 1931 graduate of the former Conygham Twp High School, Aristes.
He was a coal miner and had also owned the Fronk Machine Shop and Trucking Company. He was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Valley View. He was also a former Boy Scout Leader and a former Deputy Game Warden, a former member of the Valley View Gun Club, the Valley View Fire Company, the Valley View Park Association, and the Independent Coal Miners Association.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Wilbert Fronk; and by two sisters, Annie and Jean Fronk.
He is survived by his wife, M. Jean Fronk, to whom he was married for 71 years.
He is also survived by two sons, John L. Fronk and his wife, Elizabeth of Millersburg, and James W. Fronk and his wife, Diane of Orlando, FL; three daughters, Ann L. Schiliro and her husband, Pete of Warrington, Janice M. Hodge and her husband, Gary of Camarillo, CA, and Jean M. Herb and her husband, Jack, of Hegins; eleven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Valley View, on Thursday, Feb. 11, with Rev. Richard Berg officiating. Burial was made in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Valley View.
