George Mehalko, 89, a resident of Waterbridge, Personal Care Home, Pine Grove, formerly of Mountainside, Williamstown, died Thursday, Aug. 30, at Waterbridge.

Born in Williamstown, October 30, 1922, he was a son of the late Mike and Mary Bordash Mehalko.

George was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II. He retired as a mechanic from U.S. Army Reserve, New Jersey.

He was a member of the former Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church, Williamstown. A 1941 graduate of the former Williamstown High School; a charter member of the Williamstown V.F.W. and a member of the Williamstown American Legion.

In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by five sisters, Betty, Anna, Ellen, Mary and Emma; a brother John.

Surviving are a brother, Mike Mehalko, Vero Beach, FL; nephews and nieces including, Mary Ann Sabol, Pottsville, who was George's caregiver.

Parastas and Panahida was celebrated, Thursday, Sept. 6 from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc., Tower City with the Very Reverend Francis M. Twardzik. Burial with military honors was in the Holy Spirit Byzantine Cemetery, Williamstown.
