George M. “Yut” Garber, Sr. 84, of Greenfield Street, Williamstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, at his home.
Born in Williamstown, April 5, 1925, he was a son of the late Michael and Justina Suchar Garber.
George was a WW II Marine Veteran. He retired in 1990 from the Department of Interior as a Federal Mine Inspector.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Williamstown; Knights of Columbus, Lykens, Williamstown American Legion, Williamstown Liberty Hose Company #1; Gratz V.F.W., and the Tower City Loyal Order of Moose.
Surviving are his wife, Connie Schell Garber; one son, George M. Garber, Jr. and his wife Brenda, Elizabethville; one daughter, Gwen M. Davis and her husband Paul, Finleyville, PA; one brother, Michael J. Garber and his wife Jean, Williamstown; 6 grandchildren, Richard and John Garber, April James, Phillip, Sarah and Aaron Davis; 4 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, Feb. 8, from Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Williamstown, with Rev. C. Anthony Miller as celebrant. Burial with military honors was in the parish cemetery.
