George M. "Bucky" Frew, 89, of 4 S. Crescent St., Tremont, died Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Pottsville, March 21, 1923, he was a son of the late George and Marjorie Birmingham Frew.

He was a World War II veteran of the Marine Corps and was a retired local miner.

He was a member of Most Blessed Trinity Church, Tremont, and the Brennan Keip American Legion Post, Tremont.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna L. Frew, in 2005; a son, Glen, in 1949; a daughter, Georgine Frew, in 1963; two brothers, Donald and Robert.

Surviving are a daughter, Glenda M. Kramer, Tremont; two grandsons, Jason M. Frew and Shawn Zimmerman, both of Tremont; two great-grandchildren, Victoria Angeny and Diem Zimmerman.

Services were held at Minnig-Berger Funeral Home, Tremont, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30. An interment service will be held later at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
