Fred R. Donton, Jr., 66, of Grand Avenue, Tower City, died Thursday, Nov. 8, at his home.
Born in Tower City, August 2, 1946, he was a son of Fred "Fritz" Donton, Sr., Orwin and the late Dolly Deibler Donton.
Fred was a 1964 graduate of Porter Tower High School. He served six years with the 103rd National Guard Unit. He was a retired carpenter with local Union 214, Lebanon.
He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, Tower City and the Orwin Fire Company. He was a former coach and umpire with the Tower Porter Recreation League and also umpired teener baseball. He was a former member of the Williams Valley School Board; was a former driver with the Tower Porter EMS. He was very active with the save the lights committee at the Williams Valley Football Field.
Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Penn State Football.
Fred could be seen attending all Williams Valley Sporting events where he enjoyed watching his children and his grandchildren participate. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his father; is his wife of 45 years, Cynthia Miller Donton; three children, Angie Yanoscak and her husband, John, Williamstown; Bill Donton and his wife Susan, Clarks Valley and Andy Donton and his wife Samantha, Tower City; three grandchildren, Tyler and Tianna Yanoscak and Mckenzie Donton; two step-grandchildren, Ryon and Tori Kaster; one brother, Mike Donton, Dauphin and one sister, Kathy Daub, Tower City; nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Nov. 13 from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Inc. Tower City with Rev. Natalya Cherry officiating. Burial was in the Williamstown Methodist Cemetery.
