Eugene Anthony Murphy, 81, of Tremont, died Sunday, July 11, in Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center, Tremont.
Born in Tremont, June 21, 1929, he was a son of the late James and Dorothy Burns Murphy.
He had worked as a coal miner.
Eugene was affiliated with the Most Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Tremont.
He loved cars, woodcarving and enjoyed camping. Previously, he was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guards for 10 years.
His first wife, Sandra, preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 14 years, Pearl Hummel Murphy; one son, Jimmy Murphy, Tremont; one brother, William Murphy, Joliett; one sister, Dorothy Catranis, Orwigsburg; five stepsons, William Kaufman, Roy Kaufman, Richard Kaufman, Perry Kaufman, all of Pine Grove, Joe Kaufman, Donaldson; one stepdaughter, Nancy Kemp, Tioga County; step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at H. L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc. Friends and family may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery, Tremont.
