Ernest F. Masser, 87 of Klingerstown, PA died December 26, 2012 at the Friendly Nursing Home in Pitman. He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, June M. (Troutman) Masser. The couple married December 31, 1947.
Born Saturday, May 23, 1925 in Klingerstown, he was a son of the late Frank and Carrie (Clark) Masser.
He graduated from Pine Park High School in Leck Kill and worked as a farmer, owning and operating a farm, as well as a butcher at the former Boyer Meats.
He was an active member of Christ Church Evangelical and Reformed Church of Leck Kill, having served on the Consistory and was a long time Sunday School teacher. He was also named man of the year at the church in 2012.
Ernest was a member of the Klingerstown Fire Company, and proud member of the NRA, a member of the coon hunting club from Stonington and a member of Schneedaal Camp.
He loved coon hunting and hunting especially in the late muzzleloader season. He was devoted to caring for his wife. Also surviving are four children: Glenn Masser and his wife Cheryl, Shirley Hilbert and her husband Dave, Robert Masser and Dennis Masser and his wife Christina all of Dornsife; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Masser of Loyalton and Kenneth Masser of Ohio; as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie Masser and a brother, Guy Masser.
A viewing was held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Stephen R. Rothermel Funeral Home, 1133 Ridge Rd., Klingerstown, PA where the funeral followed with Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating. Interment was in Jacob's Cemetery, Leck Kill, PA.
