Clarence I. Smeltz, 85, of Tonopah, AZ, died January 15, in Litchfield Park, AZ.
He was born April 18, 1924 in Hegins, to John and Maude (Miller) Smeltz.
He was an independent coal miner and farmer in the Dornsife area.  He was a member of Zions Lutheran Church in Erdman. He moved to Arizona in 1977. 
Clarence is survived by his daughters Marion D. Smeltz and Arlene Loftus, his companion Ruth Fry, his brother Stuart L. Smeltz, 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his son Lee Smeltz, his brother Marvin and his siters Anna and Violet. 
A graveside service was held Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Louis B. Hazelton Cemetery in Buckeye, AZ. Condolences for the family may be sent to www.thompsonfuneralchapel.com.
