share thisCatherine E. Shellhammer, 58, of 654 Port Carbon-Saint Clair Highway, Mill Creek, died Friday, Jan. 29, at home.
Born in Pottsville, Jan. 19, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Mark and Nancy Wonders Strausser.
She was a 1970 graduate of Minersville Area High School.
She worked at TNT Deli, Saint Clair.
She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Saint Clair, Rescue Hook and Ladder Company No. 3, Saint Clair, and Independent Hose Company, Diener’s Hill.
Nanny was her grandchildren’s biggest fan, never missing a game or practice.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mark Strausser.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Robert Shellhammer; a son, Christopher Shellhammer and his wife, Christine, Saint Clair; five brothers, Charles, Minersville, James, Minersville, Samuel, Pottsville, Robert, Phoenix Park, and David Strausser, Phoenix Park; two sisters, Nancy Wolfe, Pine Grove, and Mary Jane Strausser, Pottsville; two grandchildren, Tristan and Torin Shellhammer; nieces and nephews; and her dogs, Annie and Zeba.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 3, from Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 N. Second St., Saint Clair. Mass of Christian Burial followed at St. Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Saint Clair, with Monsignor William F. Glosser officiating. Interment was in Queen of the Universe Cemetery.
