Carlos R. "Buppy" Trautman, 90, of Tower City, died Friday, Nov. 2, at his home with his family by his side.

Born in Tower City, July 31, 1922, he was a son of the late David Edward and Edna Riland Trautman.

Carlos was a 1940 graduate of the former Tower City High School.

He was a W.W. II European Theater veteran where he received the Bronze Star and also a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He retired from the 131st Transportation Unit National Guard, Williamstown and from Ft. Indiantown Gap, where he was a supply sergeant with Direct Exchange Automotive Warehouse.

Carlos was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City where he served on the council, was an usher and involved with the fellowship program. He was an active member of the Tower City American Legion, where he was the former commander, service officer and was treasurer for many years. Carlos also served on the Porter Tower Water Authority; volunteered with Diakon Home Health Care, Meals on Wheels and was a driver for the Tower Porter Ambulance Association.

In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by three sisters, Lena Vivaldo, Martha Miller and Bertha Peiffer.

Carlos enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family. He will be remembered for always being willing to help anyone in need.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Mary Hoffman Trautman; three children, Timothy A. Trautman and his wife Diane, Texas; Carla M. Trautman, Florida and Todd D. Trautman, Tower City; three grandchildren, Chris and April Miller and Tara Trautman; two great grandchildren, Alena and Cash Miller, all of Texas; nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held Friday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. from St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Tower City with Rev. Linda Bonfiglio. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
